Fashion Weeks around the world

Paris Fashion Week
The attendees at the Paris Fashion Week had to stand to witness Balenciaga‘s boxy silk jackets in sci-fi inspired designs, after benches were removed. A little too much to bear for the glitterati present for the show! Elsewhere, some really adorable and ready-to-wear collections from designers Anthony Vaccarello, Fatima Lopes and Corrado de Biase enchanted the hungry audience at the 2011 Paris Fashion Week. The new spring/summer 2012 collections of Carven, Barbara Bui, Ann Demeulemeester, Rick Owens, Manish Arora, Balmain and Nina Ricci have also received great response from their audiences.

Milan Fashion Week
Fasion designers from Milan are reported to be investing zealously in gold. Perhaps it is not coincidental that the era most frequently evoked during Milan fashion week was the Roaring ’20s, seen through its sequined and beaded drop-waisted flapper dresses. The carefree, fun decade ended with the devastating 1929 stock market crash!

Mexico Fashion Week
The creations from the new collection of the Mexican designer Macario Jimenez during the Mexico Fashion Week being held in the in Mexico City have been appreciated all round.

Pittsburgh Fashion Week
The crowds at the Pittsburgh Fashion Week have been vowed by the cosmopolitan flair at display! Pittsburgh Fashion Week stood up to its big city promises that included bright lights and lots of color and vigor all around! The Monday opening night extravaganza saw  a standing-room-only crowd of 450-plus to witness the new Doncaster fashions collection.

Trends in Women’s Handbags

The trends in the women’s handbags at the recently held Jakarta Fashion Week show fresh ideas and innovativeness. These artistic handbags were quite a change from the simple leather handbags that designers in New York, Paris and Milan showcased for spring 2011.

The handbags shown during Jakarta Fashion Week are modern fashion fused with Indonesian tradition. The handbag collections were either designed to blend into the background of intricately designed material, or made to be a centerpiece of art on a woman’s arm.

You can check out a comprehensive catalog on handbags for women to give your wardrobe a makeover this festive season.

Summer Fashion for Women

Summer is the time when women must beat the heat by wearing a fashionable Linen Vest to add to their fashion quotient. Summer vests for women are a big hit because of their ease of use and the fact that they allow the body to breathe, naturally.

So, if you find yourself being bogged down by the heat, head over to the online store that offers an exciting range of vests for women and order a couple of them suiting your style!

Best of luck!

First Pattaya International Fashion Week

The first Pattaya International Fashion Week got under way over the weekend and was deemed an instant success by all and sundry.
Apart from top designers and models in town to help promote Pattaya as a top fashion destination, Pattaya now holds the Guinness Book of Records’ world record for presenting the longest catwalk in the world measuring 1.5 kilometers.
It began at Central Festival Pattaya Beach, where most of the fun was taking place, and ended at Walking Street.
A host of celebrities attended all wearing Thai Silk, including Pattaya Mayor and a number of ambassadors’ wives from 14 countries embassies based in Bangkok.

Indian Girl winner of Samsung Diva of Dubai Fashion Week 2010

Samsung Electronics, an award winning innovator and sponsor of Dubai Fashion Week, announced Garima Irisha Kapoor as the winner of the Samsung Diva of Dubai Fashion Week 2010.

The Samsung stand at Dubai Fashion Week welcomed 400 entries over five days, with fashionistas from all over Dubai posing with Samsung’s Diva and Divafolder to compete for the title of Diva of Dubai Fashion Week.

Milan Fashion Week gets a makeover

The biggest names in the fashion world in Italy have come together to ensure that people can enjoy the designs at Milan Fashion Week for even longer.
Brands including Giorgio Armani and Prada have joined forces and agreed to evenly distribute their shows across the space of one week.
This means that celebrities, image stylists and the world’s press are more likely to stay in town for the whole seven days instead of leaving when the biggest catwalk collections have been previewed.
Good news for smaller fashion brands, fashion labels and fashion designers! Bravo!

John Sakalis lights up LA Fashion Week

One might argue that Los Angeles Fashion Week is the poor cousin to the runways of New York, Paris and Milan where the best known and commercially successful fashion designers showcase their best of designs.
However, while LA Fashion Week may not have the big names, or the sound and the fury of the more popular venues, it does have its own unique voice.
The LA shows offer new talent and fresh perspectives from the West Coast. One designer collection that deserves a look from both buyers and customers is John Sakalis’s Fall/Winter 2010 Collection. It has got rave reviews and is being appreciated by one and all, especially the fashion critiques.
